2020 Cache GOP Nominating Convention Agenda

Question on the second ballot:

We’ve received a few questions about the last question on the second ballot. It’s a requirement in our bylaws for the county delegates at the county convention to ratify the ex-officio state delegates so they can attend the state convention. This bylaw was included on the 2nd page of the agenda linked above. This is what it says:

Definition of Ex Officio Delegates per Bylaws (6B5) “Ex Officio Delegates: The County Executive Committee voting members [county party officers and district chairs], members of the State Republican Central Committee who represent Cache County, and Republican State and Cache County elected officials who reside in Cache County shall have ex officio delegate status to the county and state conventions, if they so desire. Ex officio delegates to the state convention are subject to ratification by the county nominating convention.”

Dear County Delegate,
Thank you for being willing to serve in the very important position of County Delegate for this year’s nominating convention! I am so honored and grateful to serve alongside you in the great cause of preserving our freedoms by espousing the conservative principles and values that make our Nation great! The US Constitution and the County, and State Republican Party Platforms should always be the documents that guide the decision making of our elected officials, and legislators when considering public policies and legislation! We as delegates should expect nothing less from them and ourselves.
This year’s convention will be unlike any other in the history our County Party. As you know, due to COVID 19 we have had to alter the way we normally conduct our convention. Of course this is not how we, the Cache GOP, or any of the candidates prefer to conduct a convention of such significance. But, for everyone’s welfare and safety this is the best option. We are holding a virtual convention through the use of social media and an electronic voting service. The opening of convention, the announcement of election results, and closing of convention will take place via Facebook live, and other available options.
As your County Chair, I and the rest of the County Executive Committee, have taken all the necessary steps to ensure that everything has been and will continue to be done in strict accordance with our bylaws. My most important concern is protecting the integrity of the convention process and elections that take place, including protecting the privacy of your vote to the fullest extent possible. Now let’s turn our attention to the candidates and the voting process.
All of the candidates deserve your attention, and you theirs. They are to be applauded for their courage to run for public office, whether they are a first time candidate or an incumbent. I hope you have and/or will take the time to vet each and everyone of the individuals running for each respective office. For more information about the candidates and to view their pre-recorded convention speeches, please visit the elections page on our website; https://cachegop.com/elections/
In the coming days you will receive an email from Voatz, they are the company running our elections this year. Please check your spam and/or promotions inboxes if you do not see it in your primary one. The email will contain specific instructions how to download the app to your smartphone, and will have a unique verification ID that is specific only to you. You will also need a working cell phone number to receive a verification code when you register with Voatz. Should you have any issues, you will be able to contact the Voatz Help Desk and they will walk you through and assist you in resolving the problems. Happy voting!
Once again, thank you for choosing to be a delegate and especially for being anxiously engaged in the Cache County Republican Party!
