Message from the Chair – August 5, 2020

My fellow Cache County Republicans,

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”   Charles Dickens

I use this popular quote by Dickens because it sums up 2020 so far! We had to change the way we conducted and held both county and state nominating conventions. Candidates all had to adjust their campaign strategies and find ways to think outside the box to get their message out to voters. We had three contested primaries locally, two state races, and one federal race that went to primary before we could declare our nominees for the November ballot.

We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to Senator Lyle Hillyard for his four decades of service to Cache County and the State of Utah! He has been a stalwart for us and his knowledge on budgets and numerous other issues is unmatched. We wish Lyle and his sweet wife the best as they now will have the opportunity to spend more time together come next January. Thank you Senator Hillyard!

We would also like to express our thanks and appreciation to Representative Val Potter for his years of dedicated service to Cache County. I personally have always appreciated the fact that he served at every level of local government. His leadership in the Utah House of Representatives was evident by the position he currently holds as chair for one of eight appropriations committees. Thank you Representative Potter!

The work is not done for Rep. Potter and Sen. Hillyard, who along with our other 4 legislators will likely be called into three or four more special sessions before the end of this year. However, as you are all aware by now, we are marching toward another clean sweep in November!

We would like to congratulate our nominees, CD1 – Blake Moore; Gov – Spencer Cox; AG – Sean Reyes; Senate 25 – Chris Wilson; House 3 – Mike Petersen; County Council South District – Nolan Gunnell, for the November ballot for winning hard fought primaries! We look forward to helping all of them get across the finish line first on November 3rd! There will be plenty of opportunities to help out with their campaigns! We encourage you to check our website and theirs regularly for updates. Take courage my friends and keep up the good fight against everything that goes against our County Party Platform and US Constitution!

Sincerely yours,

Chris Booth | Cache GOP Chair
