Representative Potter: Legislative Newsletter – Weeks 4-5

Cache County Neighbors and Friends,
We’ve finished week five of the legislative session and are into the final two weeks.
The four bills I’m working to complete this session have all passed through House committees and House chamber unanimously and are in the Senate for their review and passage. The budget for my appropriation committee is under review by House and Senate leadership and final state budget appropriations will be made in week seven.
I’m House Chair of Business, Economic Development and Labor Appropriations Subcommittee. The following are the state agencies under my committee:
  • Department of Commerce
  • Tax Commission
  • Labor Commission
  • Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control
  • Financial Institutions
  • Public Service Commission
  • Governor’s Office of Economic Development
  • Department of Heritage and Arts
My newsletter for weeks 4-5 is attached. It covers many of the activities of the last two weeks and bills presented in committees and on the House floor. Be sure to review the public opinions on page 8 that shows the number of emails I’ve received on a variety of “hot topic” bills we’ve worked on.
Our final Legislative Town Hall of the session will be on March 7 at 7:30 a.m. in the Cache County Council Chambers at 199 North Main in Logan. It can be viewed on the Cache County Facebook page.
I look forward to hearing from you with any questions or comments you have for me in the last two weeks of the session.
I sent out a notice last week that I was running for re-election to the State House of Representatives. This article just came out in the Herald Journal about my campaign. I invite you to read it.
Thanks for allowing me to serve you in the House of Representatives!
Rep. Val Potter
