The Cache County Council, all of whom are Republicans, issued a press release December 7, 2016, explaining the decision to use eminent domain in a road issue.
The council voted 6-1 on December 6, 2016, to condemn what is known as “Davenport Road,” south of Avon. The debate over the road has been in court since 2010, with no resolution in sight. Council members who voted for the action said they are convinced by the evidence that the road is public and that the right of way should be maintained. They gave additional reasons for the action.
